19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of 2023.
Success also signifies Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
